First running workshop in Switzerland with Vimazi
This week, the time had finally come and the well-known Holmes Place fitness park in Oberrieden (https://www.holmesplace.ch/en/clubs/seepark-oberrieden) invited people to the running workshop led by Michael from Vimazi Europe.
The 20 participants were given knowledge about running for beginners and were able to try on the Vimazi shoes. In the practical lesson that followed, we went on the treadmill and into the gym. On the treadmill, the participants could feel the difference between cadence and stride length, followed by ABC running exercises, strength, mobility and other drills in the gym. On a very high level, these are the key take-aways on order to start running from scratch:
Start with easy running in order to build a solid basis (maybe just run/walk in the beginning)
Don`t focus on distance, just time! Remember: Your body doesn`t know what a kilometer is, he only knows how long and how intense he is working!
Be consistent. Better shorter, but regular runs, e.g. 3x15min/week is better than just 1x1h/week
Give your body time to adjust. Muscles & aerobic system adapt quick, tendons and bones need much more time (months!) This is dangerous because as a beginner you notify progress and you want more => Injuries
Get yourself a structured plan, don`t rush into things (train smart, but also hard)
Use alternatives, e.g. biking, swimming and change workload/intensity
Don`t forget strength training and mobility (e.g. core stability leads to better running economics)
Use proper equipment (e.g. track your shoes, how many km?)
Work on your technique («running-ABC» and do a proper warm-up)
Pay attention to your nutrition & recovery (e.g. prioritize sleep)
Depening on your age and fitness level: Medical check first
At Vimazi, we know that innovative running shoes have always been designed to make the elite even better. But what about the millions of amateur runners who also want optimal cushioning and good propulsion for their pace? This is where Vimazi comes in and has the right shoe for every pace - guaranteed.
It was an exciting event with many lively discussions and there will certainly be a follow-up soon.
