Successful holding of the New Year's Marathon Zurich 2024
Together with the organizing commitee, we are full of joy and pride that almost 1,000 runners took part in the 19th. edition of the New Year's Marathon in Zurich and made it an outstanding success. Particularly, we are also pleased that we could welcome participants from over 47 countries at our event. The weather was initially dry and mild, although it had rained before the start. Some participants got wet again in the last lap, but the conditions were good and generally excellent. The clear sky and the view of the moon, stars and Fireworks were additional rewards for the runners.
Phil Besson from Switzerland secured the title in the Marathon discipline in the men's race with 2:38:44 hours. He ran at an impressive speed of 3:46 minutes per kilometer. Philipp Arnold, also from Switzerland and regular on our podium, took second place with a time of 2:43:56 hours. Jaime Gutiérrez Vicente from Spain, who designed our medals this year, achieved the third place in 2:54:17 hours.
In the women's race, Joanna Ryter from Switzerland set a new course record with a Time of 2:56:50 hours. She ran a fantastic race and clearly set herself apart competition. Claudia Maria Henneken from Germany came in second place and finished in a time of 3:29:10 hours. Alma Stebler from Switzerland completed this Podium with a finisher time of 3:42:17 hours.
The first short-distance winners of the year were announced around two hours earlier. The following runners were able to celebrate:
Quarter marathon men: Luca Vogelsang (Switzerland) in 35:19 minutes
Quarter marathon women: Corina Ryf (Switzerland) in 42:15 minutes
Half marathon men: Marco Fasel (Switzerland) in 1:12:53 hours
Half marathon women: Murielle Nigro (Switzerland) in 1:28:43 hours
The Kids Run over 750 meters was also held in the previous evening's program. Natalie Rütti Schwarz won the girls category in 2:50 minutes. Quentin Bellew won in the boys category in 2:47 minutes.
After a few smaller events in 2023, Vimazi's co-sponsorship of the New Year's Marathon in Zürich was the first involvement in an official marathon. More to come!
